YRDSB PUBLIC SCHOOL BOARD TRUSTEE CANDIDATE

EVERY CHILD DESERVES THE BEST EDUCATION.

OUR MISSION

It shouldn’t matter which school a child attends, what neighbourhood they live in, or how much their parents earn. Every student should have access to high-quality education, qualified teachers, appropriate classroom support, and the opportunity to succeed.

THE AGENDA

PRIORITIES FOR BETTER SCHOOLS.

Smaller classrooms

Smaller classroom sizes can help teachers better understand their students, identify challenges earlier and create a stronger learning environment where every child has the opportunity to participate and thrive. I will advocate for appropriate staffing and additional support in schools and classrooms where it is needed most.

Every student matters

Every student deserves to be seen, supported and given the opportunity to reach their full potential. We need to identify students who are struggling early, provide the right support, and work with teachers and families to help students succeed. I would emphasize strengthening early support and communication between teachers, families and schools to help create the bridge of support each student requires.

Strong schools,
equal opportunities

Every child deserves access to a high quality education, no matter which school they attend. We need to identify where schools and students need additional support, direct resources where they are needed most and make sure every school has the tools and support necessary to meet high standards. Putting clear measures in place will allow us to ensure every school is held to the same high level of excellence.

Making every
dollar count

Education funding should always be focused on what matters most: our students. We need to spend responsibly and transparently, reduce unnecessary expenses where possible, and make thoughtful decisions about where funding can have the greatest impact on students, teachers and the classroom. Every program we fund should have a purpose and a way to measure whether it is working. We need to look at the results, understand what is making a difference for students, and make sure funding is directed towards what works.
